We have been running an Autometer Pro Comp 2 Tach. 426 Hemi with a 44MAG. Tried the MSD Converter and it worked for a few runs......nothing.
Installed two more (NEW) Tachs and converters, still nothing. Now have the MSD tach pick up lead that runs off the coil, Still no luck?
If you're running a tach with this set up.........help
    Yes, I've called MSD.........checked my wiring.........replaced everything

    Thanks,,,,,,,,,Brownman and the FNG's

I have a similar problem. Tach works but will not record and then playback? Hit the record button and RECD shows in the LED, push stop and then playback and nothing? Worked fine with MSD 7AL-2. Went to a mag 44 with signal converter and now nothing. Any suggestions?

    Msd

Took our 44 to the MSD trailer at the nats and the best they did was break the tail couple and said " That was our problem" Not a brain cell in the house. Had to purchase some new hardware and they now sell a PN8918 which is suppose to pick up the coil impulses and sent it to the TACH. Purchased that and it didn't work. MSD rep did come over to our pit and looked it over................"Don't know what to tell ya". Thanks for the effort:(
WE ill just run the RPM activated shit light.....at least it works........so far!

What colors are the wires on the back of tach? Does it have a green, yellow, or speaker type wire coming off of it? The 9118 will only work on standard ignition style tachs, which are green wire. If you tried 2 other tachs does the tach have a soild 12 volts & goor ground. If the voltage falls under 12 volts the tach will not operate correctly. If this still does not solve your problem, please contact our service department at 815-899-0801 or service@autometer.com

    Thank You

Wanted to say "Thanks" for the input. I will follow up on everything. What's frustrating is that it worked for a while then quit. Our tach has the Green wire that feeds the impulse to the Autometer. I now have it wire directly to the Tack Pick up sensor, off the coil wire.

    Thanks Marc!

We checked everything again and decided to switch to a new 12 Battery. That was the problem........It's simple when you know what to look for. Thanks again for the fast / acurate information. Brownman and the FNG's:)
