Just received a new rpm data logger. want to install a flow meter on the car. Currently we have a k style barrell valve. The 2 outlets from the barrell valve go to the hat dist. block and the port dist block.

It has been suggested that I simply plug the lower outlet of the barrell valve run the top directly into the flow meter, then y off the back of the flow meter to the two blocks.

    2 questions.

Do the 2 outlet ports on a k style valve flow the same at the same time.

And, will this modification change or effect the total fuel flow?

    any input here?

If you check you K style BV you'll find that the "K" is sort of like a "Y" fitting. The two outlets are tied together. We've run a flowmeter for 5 years now without difficulty off the BV. To be accurate with your flows make sure that all fuel going into the ports and hat goes through the flowmeter.

The maximum gpm is dependent on the capabilities of the flowmeter. A -12 size meter should be good up to 25 gpm. Each flowmeter should come with a calibration sheet for the output to the logger.

You'll want to measure the fuel pressure off the pump if using any loops or other bleed offs. I'm measuring both at the pump and just in front of the flowmeter. I generally see about 8% pressure drop through the BV.
