Hey guys! I run Outlaw 10.5 w/ a blown alky SBF. Kind of an unusual question, but our fuel cell up front is too small (4 gal) so we put our normal 16 gal in back and will run an electric fuel pump to keep the front tank full. ...any ideas or know who makes the unit to put on the front tank to stop the rear pump from filling the front tank? I've seen guys use carb floats, but seems kinda crude.

could you wire it on a throttle switch. The pump would only run during the run (wot)

Why not just put a bung in the side of your 4 gallon, and let the excess fuel above a certain level flow back to the rear cell via gravity? Or, restrict the outlet of the bulk pump, or cut down the pump voltage/speed, or both, so that the trickle flow just keeps up with the demand off the 4 gallon. You could even use a WOT switch to turn the electric pump on/off. Unless the big rear tank helps for weight balance for some reason, why not just run a bigger front cell instead?

I wish we could put a bigger cell in, but this is in a '68 mustang and we're limited w/ room. We're running a Hiborn 175B-2, we burn about .7 gpm at idle! ...so i'm sure we'll burn more than 4 gallons in a pass w/ burnout, etc. We thought about sealing the tank and keeping a continuous flow to the back tank, but that's a lot of lines and alcohol running everywhere. I do like the WOT switch idea though...we might look into that.

OK I guess I can believe you'll burn a bit more than 4 gallons on a pass but not very much more. .7 gpm @ idle sounds pretty fat for a small block. Our 300# T/S car runs low 6.70's with a 526 Hemi, SCS 1471, 4 hole carbon fiber hat and Enderle 110 pump barely burns more than 5 gallons. A very competitive TAFC I've worked on burns 6-7 gallons and only has a 9 gallon cell. A 3-4 minute warm up burned less than 5 gallons. I'd think you'd only need another 1-1.5 gallon to be safe. Have you thought about custom alum. cell that's formed with your front grille or anything? I certainly wouldn't want to add another 135+ pounds that a filled 16 gallon cell, pump and lines would weigh.

HEMIdude, yeah i'd have to agree w/ ya. I'd feel more comfortable w/ all the fuel up front, and i don't need the weight when we're already 200# over weight. I appreciate all the input!

just use a one-way check valve in the line and set it to pop at 10 psi. that should do it.
