    hello all

    we run a 511 bbc with a mooneyham 14-71 at 35%
will be getting a msd44, few questions though we are going from using a super mag 2, so a totally different set up, i no that the timing has to be retarded as the msd44 is that good we can take load off the engine, but by how much??? on hemi's iv seen as much as 11 degrees taken back when fitted. so all you chevy users give me your advice!! if we run at say 38' for arguements sake what should we be looking to start off at with the 44? what are the best plugs? as iv heard that the 44 will kill plugs,

any help and advice would be great thanks for reading

I'm not familiar with the chevy, but with our hemi we were running 38 degrees with a single Super Mag 3, and dropped down to 27 or 28 with the 44 amp mag. You want to use a spark plug with a short ground strap, like the NGK 6061-10. We use Champions, but I can't recall the part number off hand.

38 Degrees!!! Whose heads are on it? I have never been over 27 with BAE or 32 with a Veney.

Thanks for the replies, was an old original post !

In the 2 years we have had the MSD now we def have our baseline for timing.

Just out of interest why not above 32? or is it the obvious answer of detenation
