We're two races into the season, what has happened to the IHRA Alcohol Funny Car class sponsor?

I hate to keep beating this horse, but the wheels need to be in motion on the 2008 deal, and 2007 hasn't been secured.

I guess the silver lining to this is IHRA did step up and run the class.

I have been thinking the same thing about IHRA not naming a sponsor for the class . Should racers seek sponsors when they cannot guarantee there will be a class to race at their nat'l events in 08 .

You probably better go ahead and chase down some sponsors for '08. If you guys end up not having a class, you have my permission to refer them to us :)

I think in Polburn's interview on Comp Plus, he talks about some sponsors being signed late so that may be a part of it. Sometimes sponsor are a little funny about when they want to be formally announced - I believe the sponsor is Ethanol based. Also, keep in mind Evan Knoll is the full series sponsor now and from what I understand he wants an alcohol funny car class so I don't think the racers should worry too much about it going away. However, if I had a car, I can see why not having an official announcement would be concerning.

    AFC sponsor

was at rockingham this weekend and spoke to an ihra official regarding the identification of who is sponsoring the afc class. he reported that the ihra will cover the class during the season and that evan knoll would cover the year end points money. did not ask about 2008
