KB cap walk

    We are having a problem with cap walk.Just wanted to know if this is a comon problem and if anyone knows a good fix.Stage 3 block

    I had the similar problems with my Stage III, my block had small cracks in the radius of the block where the cap sat against (if that made sense) it was also walking.

    I had the cracks welded and then faced the block for a realy good purchse, so as the cap would snap lock into position. Next I had it tunnel bored to suit.

    This solved the majority of the walking but it is still happening allbeit at a lesser amount.

    I suspect thats why the 6 bolt mains were introduced.

    There could be other issues involved here. A blown alcohol motor that's pretty heavy on compression ratio can also cause this. Certain tune up conditions can cause cap walk also.

    cap walk

    This is in an 8.4 comprsssion,485 cu inwith weadge heads (440-1 indy).671 littlefeildwith bird hat and msd 20 mag.This may sound like a very weird combinaton but it is the class rules that I run in.I don't know of any one esle running anything close to this type of set up so if anyone has any good input let me know.
