    HI ,
Can someone help me with a basic tune up for my first Blown alcohol engine !!:)
    So , i have :
    A 509 bbc ( 4.500 x 4.00 ) , venolia 11/1 pistons, Comp cam 780/720 , 112 ° , a used 8/71 mooneyham helix ( plan to boost at 14 psi to start ...) , an enderle 110 pump flowed 12.07at 4000 , birdcatcher with 8 nozzles in hat , no port nozzles , K barrel valve , no hi-speed ( for the moment ) .
    mallory super mag 3 .
    my questions are:
Size of the nozzles in hat ? bigger ones in the rear ? How much pressure release in the return valve ( idle valve ? ) , return jet size for a safe beginning ? need a hi speed ? Timing for the super mag ?
Every answer will be appreciated !
    Thanks , JO

The best advice I can give is to send your fuel system out to flowed by Gore, Oddy etc! They will be able to set up your fuel system based on your combination. It is money well spent to avoid headaches in the future.

I have a 480" BBC motor which is similar to yours.
    4.5 bore x 3.76 stroke. 11:1 compression. 8/71 standard (but new) blower spinning 40% over. Cam is .720 & .750" at 112 degrees. Supermag 3 (increased to 5amp)
    I use a 990 pump at 15gm (but a 110 would work)
    here is my tune up.
    8 x 40's in hat
    8 x 50's in ports
    Idle check valve at 4psi
    port check valve at 10psi
High speed check valve at 50psi with a .083 pill in hi speed
A pump sizer check valve (coz 990 is too big) at 30psi with a .065 pill
    Main pill 100
    Total pill area is 0.01656sq"
    Timing is 32 degrees

Note: My BBC has Arias Hemi heads on it, so advance is lower than if your using a BBC quench head

This tune is safe (for me)...something similar would get you down the track

    Cheers
    Dave (in Australia)
