"so we will be forced to diversify and use the facility for another purpose"

What other purpose could they possibly use the place for?

    pitts, raceway park

i wish they would go nhra, but dont think so, they signed a deal with ihra for 3 yrs, we have a reserved pit spot there, its a nice place, the track got plenty of hook, they put boat loads of cash in this, extended shut down, real lighting...more pits spots, food you can eat, not bad!! my 16yr old son will be testing his tad dragster there .space#27 Ralph Greco

No one got it, from what I am told auction was kind of a joke. Min bid was 1 mil. They got 1.1 mil, had a meeting after it stalled there. Came back and said they would not accept bid and that was that. Sold off the small equipment. They did switch it back to NHRA sanction hoping that would help sell it. With a good owner/manager that place could do great again. Its terrible how its going to go to waste if nothing can get done for someone else to buy it.

    Oh Man....

My mother is from Salem and I used to go there as a kid and watch my uncle race in the 70's. My aunt still lives within a couple miles of the track. A lot of fond memories of this place. I have lived in Florida for 22 years now but it still hurts to hear that it is going away. Wish I had some serious cash because I have always dreamed of owning a dragstrip....

    More info...

My brother-in-law called me tonight from Ohio to say he had talked to the owner and the word is he was clearing $180K to $250K per year. That's not enough if you have to pay debt service on 1.25 million or more. Unless of course you could come up with something else to do with the place in the winter to make some cash.
It's in the middle of nowhere with farms on all sides pretty much. Don't know what you could do to make winter cash.....
Sad to see it go :(
