I only know kb stage 3 blocks and I was given a very nice TFX - 92. Can anyone tell me what I have for deck hight and cam location. I want to know if its raised cam and standard deck hight or not. Looks like from the center of the crank to the center of the cam is 5.350" and from the center of the crank to the top of the block 9.500". Its a standard cam and lifters. Thanks for the help.

Mike, I just went out and checked the bare TFX92 I've got out in the shop (other one is assembled and in the chassis) and without a crank in it, I eyeballed it with a tape measure. Mine's at approximately the same number from the CL of the crank to the CL of the cam, but this one is more like 10.750 from the crank to the top of the block.

And I believe this to be a "standard" TFX 92 also. What number is your block? You're welcome to come by here and check this one out for comparison sake if you'd like.

Bill, Yes its 10.7 st deck. The # is 458. looks to be a very early tfx. I really want to know if I need to clearance the rods or not with a 4.500 crank. In my stage 3 I have a 4.500crank with a big alky cam and I needed to clearance the rods so they did not touch the crank. I only did that to have a ride and this time im going to do it right. Im getting really good parts now instead of the 80's nitro stuff. I cant complain. I went fast with other peoples junk. Since you are just up the street I would like to stop by some time. Let me know.

You dont need to clearance the block for 4.50 stroke
All TFX 92's are raised cam blocks, so you need a 48 degree camshaft of your type.

I checked a TFX 92 block that I have, it is stamped with the following:

    409
    +.100
    S. L.

I am assuming it is an early production .100 tall deck

Does anyone know exactly what the S. L. means?

If it is an early production block, is that a good thing?
