espn sucks

well i guess this is the year drag racing is going to suck the big one.they put lame duck paul page in the booth this will make the sport go down hill we will loose viewers. i think i will put my tv on mute page does not know jack about drag racing they should put him the sport of golf boring like him.

 

just as well watch golf , it is just like nhra only the big $$$$$$$$ teams get air time and rules adapted to fit.

I had a pretty good morning going until I read this. This is just about as bad as Mike Dunn announcing a Chinese Hockey game.
ESPN give us a break!!!!!!!!

 

Great, we can only inagine how they will sound. "Diggers" and "rails" and those flip top things are next. If I hear one comparison to "Cha Cha' or Big Daddy, I'm gonna go postal. What happened to Mike and the rest? Those idiots at ESPN make us wait for college baseball extra innings just so we have to wait up until 1:00 am to see them run.

Paul Page

Hey all sportsman fan puting his thoughts in another time. I've got a good idea for ESPN why don't they have scroll bar at the bottom of the screen reporting the action on the race track instead having Paul Page in the booth.This way more people would watch the sport instead of listing to him make mistakes all the time. I hope he did his homework over the winter and gets the drivers names and sponsers right this year because he fumbled like a football last year.

 

ESPN's Fault!!

It really isn't Pauls fault. He probably doesn't want to be there, him and ESPN have to know he's as dumb as dirt when it comes to dag racing. The Fault lies with ESPN. It doesn't ease the afront to our senses though!!!!!

 

Paul Page did say publicly he doesnt know the lingo and would take time.
If you want to know the real Paul Page just google his name and see his resume.
Whether you like him or not, he will be the co-announcer.

 

I completely agree, the language has no place and the subject has moved in a direction that isn't needed... I'm glad someone else caught that typo too ^.^... I also agree with the person who said that Paul probably doesn't like to talk about a sport that he knows nothing about... I'm sure this wasn't his top pick, and we definitely shouldn't be blaming him... Also, remember when you bash ESPN it hurts the sport... No company wants to hear that the sport doesn't like what they do... If I remember correctly NHRA only has until 2010 of confirmed coverage... I would be supportive of ESPN to make insure that they keep us on TV... You never know when the president of ESPN could be surfing the web :-D!

Truth

Some bosses want to hear the truth. In fact spend a lot of money on polls and surveys just to get it.
NHRA will be judged by ratings and advertisment dollars. Thats why it is so important for them to have a commentator who knows the sport and can generate some excitment. I don't know why Paul has the job but my guess would be it has a lot to do with dollars on his contract. Bet you this was the last job he expected to be doing. Who knows, if we can persevere long enough he might get better at it. The one I feel sorry for is Dunn. Hes the one who has to tackfully correct and explain what is going on and why. Just say your blessings that Dunn is there.

 

I'm sure his contract has something to do with it.
I saw him doing commentary on some kind of eating contest on ESPN last year, and not only did he sound excited, he pronounced the eaters' names correctly!

I have always wanted a job doing TV hosting for NHRA,,been around it all my life and know alot of the drivers and crews..And I know the Lingo !!!! Who do I contact to get started in this industry????
