well spacone you should go to a drag race. Why havent you? anyway its not that bad. regular weekends are 8-13 $, national events can be 35-50, but so what? have you bought a ticket to a concert lately? or go to a large size amusement park, it about broke me to take three kids. alot cheaper at the track. baseball, football, just way to much for me.

cost to go to a race...

When you consider what you pay for an all day event it's not all that bad on entertainment value. I think that the car load pricing would bring more families out, that normally couldn't afford to be there...... (just my two cents worth in case track operators are on here)

it's about 200 dollars to take a family of 4 to eliminations, then you have to pay for everything else, this is for a national event. Also when considering entertainment value, how many kids will sit there all day?

It all depends where you want to spend your money and where you place the value of a return on investment.Traveling to the races with the family is fun a mini vacation you see different parts of the country and meet a great bunch of people here there and every where.I live in new england and have made a bunch of friends from all over the place and and thats great for us.It all depends what you want to spend and where.

The point was to open drag racer's eye's to all the alternatives that there are for peopel to do in 2007, not to mention the 9/11 fear to be in crowds with all the wack jobs out there today, so i'm sure there are other things to compeat with drag racing, so what are they, and how do you beat them?? ;)

    Pricey !!! I Think Not,,,,

I work for NHRA Safety Safari,,Started about 10 years ago,I remember paying to get in ,,now I couldn't imagine having to pay for all four days!!! But like you said,,try going to a concert or pro sports game !!! You need to take out a loan just to buy a Beer !! I would pay the cost to see a race,, A track in Western Pa "won't say the name" but he promotes on some races $10-20 can't remember,,for a CAR-FULL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Top that at any track !! So lets keep saving and bring the kids out fro a real "Day to Remember" :)

    the point is

So I guess what were saying is; going to the drags is a good value. but the trick is to get folks to know that. like hanna had posted elsewhere we need to help the tracks get butts in the seats.

Maybe a differant mindset here, if you are already a drag racer, you know all the benifets, and excitment thats at the races, STOP THINKING LIKE THAT, what if you were just Joe Shmo walking down the street ,what would get you to go to a drag race? how do you convince him to give up his money and all the toys he has at home to go to a drag race??? HELP YOURSELF AND THE TRACKS STAY IN BUSSINESS, Mark your on the right track :D

    sensory experience

I invited a friend out to Baytown last year for the nationals. He paid for him and his wife. He couldn't get over the experience, and came out to the divisional as well. He called me the other day to check if we were racing again at the nationals because he had already bought his tickets.

Weekly racing/spectators are on a different level. It depends on what you offer/promise and how the track delivers on that. Then it's up to the fan whether or not the show/race they went to watch was worth the what they paid.

I've long stated drag racing needs some cheap seats, but that demographic doesn't sell as much for nhra as the demographic that has the discretionary income to spend a couple hundred bucks at the race track over the course of a weekend.

What if each div. hired an ad agenecy to promote each div. race? wonder how much they would charge, maybe tack on an extra $ 1.00 to $5.00 to entry fees to cover the cost,if it works put it back into the winninings, just a tought.;)

Even for the divisional race how many "Joes" are goin to be satisfied, especially if they've gone to a national event. There's a lot of bracket racing and IMO that doesn't go well for the average fan. Even I'm guilty, I'll probably be skipping both the national event and the division race at gateway, and will probably travel to two other non NHRA drag races a total of about 20 hours, and it will probably cost me about the same since it would cost me about 150 to go to a full national event, and probably about 80-90 for a division race. I understand many people can't travel, but IMO there are more people who would just as soon go to an NMRA race because they understand many of the classes better, and there is more heads up racing, even if the racing isn't as good. Opinions? I hope I'm not trolling.

some of the best racing to watch for me are the nitefire in boise and match races in woodburn. as a kid i watched match races in fremont ca. it hooked me on drag racing!I do completely agree with will about getting diff people to come to the races. Ive picked up acouple of sponsors from bringing folks to a race. its about time the racers get more involved. one other point, we need more to be not just fan friendly, but a personality.

Will's suggestion is one of the best. To get more people that don't otherwise attend races to the track, invite them. Too many assume that everyone loves our sport. I don't for one minute believe it is the cost of admission keeping folks away. As already noted, look at the cost of attending a sporting event, or concert these days.

When you invite someone to an event and show them around for a day, you may see a lifelong fan of racing get their start.. I know several folks who long for that time of year that a National event is close enough to drive three hours to attend.
