Sammy,I bet you are going to get 10 different answers on this.
    What I do:
torque all to 70lbs outside in top row first. (except inner studs)
    Then do...
    Top row: 95 outside in.
    Top row: 115 outside in
    Top row: 140 outside in
    Now do..
    bottom row: 95 outside in
    bottom row: 120 outside in
    Now do...
    inner studs 50.

I retorque after the car has been run and has cooled down. Sometime after one run most times after 2 Friday runs I do it Saturday morning. Once in a while get a little something on the outside bottoms.

    Next!

    top row 5 studs = sequence = 1, 5, 2, 4, 3 ?
    bottom row 8 studs = 1, 8 , 2, 7, 3 , 6, 4, 5, ?
i always torqued heads beginning from center , this is the opposite for this engine !
is it with " Peanut butter " ?
    some sealer on gasket ?

like tom said, you're going to get mulitple answers...

we start inside-out. with 9/16 studs, you'll probably take them all to 130-140 with standard material. if you have the grey h-11 studs you'll want to take them to 160. use either peanut butter or moly-graphite lube.

i start inside out working in a circle. start at 70, 90, 110, 130. inners at 45 with a crows foot. then go do the other head. double check the first head after you torque the second. sometimes you'll get a little more on it. wait a few minutes and double check the second head.

Only the top 5 studs are 9/16
the 8 bottom studs are 1/2
is it the same torque values for all ?

    Thanks

    1/2 less

if the bottom row is 1/2" then torque to 110

The number that I posted were how I do heads with 9/16 tops and 1/2 bottoms and has worked fine in both cast and forged blocks.

The outside-in is a BAE recomendation. When heads torch it is usually out the ends or out the top.

There is a million ways to skin a cat. Just make sure you skin the cat.

With the short stud BAE block you can raise the torque values even higher.

You can buy it any truck shop like Peterbilt or Kenworth etc. It's called International Compound #2 and it has an actual Detroit Diesel part number.

Peanut Butter is: Detroit Diesel International Compound #2. GM part is: 1#5198563. Its' fairly costly, about 38.00 per can, but it WORKS and one can ought to last a lifetime.

    Hey
Just remember to torque your heads the same way every time.
atleast untill you change the headgaskets then you can try
    a different torque, or sequence.
