Just kidding , I buy my methanol from a local solvent distributor " bring your own barrel "and have had no problems they have a large enough turn over that it is fresh and the methanol always checks out fine. I pay about half of what I can get VP for.

    purity

it isn't so much the brand, it's how it's handled, what it's handled in, and how many times it's handled.

i know that vp and powermist (no additives) alky are handled very few times from the point of being very pure at the refinery to getting into a drum, and a lined drum at that.

other sources of alky may get handled mulitple times. each time it is transferred, it is going to pick up more moisture. while it still may pass tech, it will not make as much power. some sources of methanol come from refineries where it is either a by product or used in different operations. while this may be cheap, the quality is very low and sometimes you get quite a bit of crap in the fuel.

that being said, it's always better to have it in a lined drum - it will have more shelf life.

and always, always, always get your fuel checked before a run. it will get you sooner or later if you don't. and don't ASSUME that new drum is good.

i have little experience with torco alky, so i can't comment one way or the other.

    Will,
I have used different methanols over the years and can tell you that Torco seems to be produced and handled to the best standards. And as far as making power, we've made our best runs with Torco Methanol in the car.
They also give back to the racers about 100 million times more than any other fuel company.

    Torco forever,
    Marty
