I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction.

What data logger systems are currently most prevalent in alky funny car and nitro funny car? I'd like to research these a bit more and maybe figure out if I can find one that is in the middle that will do either.

    Thanks.

race pak pro 1a is most common,
the pro fuel cars and big money alky cars will have
a pro 2 on board with a dash.
pro 1a is about base price $5300
If you want the best of everything you will spend $12,000
heres a link to all the info on race pak and pricing

We run the Auto Meter Data Logger, less than half the cost of the RacePak, never have had a problem with it!

The Racepak is the most commonly used and for a reason. They are made to withstand the punishment a computer receives on a TAD/TAFC or Fuel car.
They are at all National events if you need them with parts and help.
They are available to talk to for over the phone assistance. I think now the dash is available for the Pro IA model. The dash is not that important for TAD but is nice to have. I personaly have a ProII which is the same as the Pro cars use.
My advice would be to get the best computer you can afford and if you can't save your money till you can get the best. It will save you the cost in short order.

Ditto that! rpmperf.com Talk to Randy. Buy from Randy. Built by Randy. Ask Randy tech question. No holding on the phone and waiting. Randy builds a great system. Had one since 99 I believe, and love it. Missed data on 2 runs with our TAFC. One with a start problem and one with a distracted driver who did not active after burnout. We use the rpm to start the computer. Back up from burn out and arm the system (while you can remind the driver). Pull in and @ 5000 rpm system starts. Works great

Tell Randy Mark sent you and maybe I'll get some free stuff someday!!!

PRO 1A and the PRO DASH

    Email I sent to RACEPAK

"I am looking for the answer to my question about my Pro 1a data system.

Rumors around the pits and the Internet are that the Pro 1 data system now can be used with the Pro Dash is there any truth to this. As I have been toying with the idea of selling my Pro 1a but if it can be made dash compatible I would consider holding on to it."

    Thank you for any insight
    Sean

    RESPONSE FROM RACEPAK TECH

    Sean,

As is typical with pit rumors and Internet chatter, the rumor is false. The Pro 1A will not support the Pro Dash.

I suspect that there is confusion between the Pro 1A and the newer Pro 1B. The Pro 1B will support the dash.

The Pro 1B can be identified by its smaller case. The case being used for the Pro 1B is identical to the Pro II data recorders.

    Regards,

    Racepak Data Systems

I would call them again. They told us that they no longer sell the 1a and only sell the 1b. It also can be upgraded to monitor timing like the II. If we didn't have the pro-II, we would have went with the B.

I ordered one 2 or so weeks ago and yes it is the pro 1b that is the replacement for the pro 1a and it is upgraded with the timing charts and dash as is the pro 2 and a smaller box. You can spend upwards of $12000. with most the options or as little as $5300. I have had quick data, altronics, and looked at the RPMperf one. And talked with other racers running the other brands but the Racepak is the way to go if you can afford it. The data we recieved running fuel you can not afford even a little glitch or even on alcohol. I learned it the hard way running at the end of the year with a new deal thing we can get by this one race without a system, thought we all had enough smarts between us to keep the motor going down the track was I wrong would have payed for half a racepak with the canonball run.
