    Great forum guys.

I need to try and make 1600/1700hp or so to be competitive in my class. Is this possible with my 1471 with the cast 60degree rotors nylatron Teflon deal on alky, or do I have to step into the hi helix stuff to get up there. My problem is firewall clearance, so I’m trying to avoid the set back blower. Combo is, 550ci, good set of conventional heads (450intake, 325 ex flow) BDS stage 4 1471 blower delta opening on bottom, enderle big and ugly. I’m thinking of building the motor with 12.5 or 13:1 compression and not spinning the blower as hard (20%over)to make the power. Good idea?

I’ve seen combos like my motor N/A 13:1 make 925hp or so N/A.
So…how much power realistically would a combo like this make with 20%over, 20psi of boost?

    Thanks in advance :D

We built a motor very similar to what you are desrcibing. 540" BBC, Dart iron block, Titan wet sump. It had a BDS standard rotor, front discharge 14-71 Procharger. With hand ported Dart 360 heads, 12 to 1 compression, with a fairly aggressive camshaft "But not to aggressive". That motor made an honest 1640hp @ 7800rpm. However, the blower was spinning at 38% over. I think your going to have to spin your blower at least 32-36% over to achieve the desired results.
