Magnesium will not work. It would not take the pressure of the springs. Magnesesium is not dense enough (maybe not the right term) Although strong it is too brittle. It would be cheaper and better to find someother way to lose the weight. A waste of time.

    weight

Unless you run an aluminum block, or have already done so, to save weight I suggest grinding the exterior of the block down, taking any unnecessary items off the block (side motor mounts, fuel pump boss, etc.) We removed 14lbs from our Dart Big M block by doing this. Plus it looks a hell of a lot better when you are finished. It is not by any means a quick process, it took me approximately 6 hrs from start to finish.

We had that done to our BBF block and if I remeber correctly it saved us 16 lbs. Good suggestion. It is easy if you know somebody with a big milling machine.

Call Dennis Wells @ Wells Racing. He has milling programs for small blocks that knock around 28 lbs off a Dart iron block. He does a ton of sprint car blocks this way. http://www.wellsracing.com/ 972-298-9900 Tell him I sent you. no that he'll give you a good deal, but maybe he'll knock some off my next bill:D
