Great timing Will. Div. 2 just posted their schedule and they have the first 2 division races and the Gators within a month, the divisions are back to back.
It's enough to make you want to cry. John, the driver/owner, pays everything from his pocket basically, and that makes it hard to run that much that soon. But we have to take what they give us.

Will, although I don't participate anymore and I am known to be cynical,( even though i see the glass half full) my thoughts on this are, N.H.R.A. plan's this so that low buck teams WONT be abel to go to the races back to back to back,( less oil downs ) the big buck teams can afford2 /3 motor's, trans 's, clutch's, spare parts, but you know what by the middle of the season the big boys don't have any one to race, personally I think the rule should be, you can only use 1 block per day ,you can change any thing between rounds ,crank, pistons, rods, ect. but not the block, reason, you can't beat cubic money no matter how good you are, but if you can only use 1 block you are less likely to sacrifice that 1 block for just one run, unless it's the final, then all bets are off.It will also help N.H.R.A. with oil downs, and even the playing field . ;)

    the weather factor

Don't forget to add in the weather factor into the equation. Look at what happened to us in D-1 this year between scheduling of Cecil County, Englishtown divisional, both Reading and Virginia getting washed out and rescheduled, and the rescheduling (twice) and then extending the Atco divisional into Monday due to a "meterological phenomenon", then combining the eliminations of the PA Dutch Classic with Atco because it too got rained out and rescheduled. What sucks even more is all of the money wasted by rescheduling hotel rooms, food for the weekend, hauling the equipment back and forth, rescheduling time off from jobs and the added time away from family. But I guess this is what we all love to do and, thank God, our family understands (and maybe our bosses).
    Phew, I need a nap........................:D

D3 starts there season in April. Thats ok in D2 were the weather is in the 70 most of the time, But here in the Mid West it can and most of the time is still pretty cold. Then the next race is in July, So why not start the season in May or June were the Temp. would be better for everyone.

    Will,
Good article. You are right on. I do like the dates this year for div.4 where we didn't have to run in July and August.

    case in point

looking at next year's schedule the atc racing team will be forced to choose between pomona winter nats and houston div 4 (not both) and will probably skip memphis div. 4 so we can go to the gatornationals. many div 4 teams will skip the gators, and then people will wonder why the car counts are lower in the south east. if you ran both, you would be racing three weeks in a row....gators, memphis, houston nat.

then when the whining about div 2 car counts starts (tafc) you think it has anything to do with your schedule being nearly identical to your next door neighbor div 4? it's pretty hard to run both of those divisions.

we'd really like to go run vegas, but it's right after the houston national...then their div is the next weekend...scratch that.

Hey Will I posted my thoughts about this on another thread.

Well Div. 7 looks interesting too.

Two back to back races with the Nat. events (Vegas and Sonoma)
One after a Nat. event (Phoenix)
Three races in four weeks (Vegas,Vegas,Fontana)
One two day race (Bakersfield- Sat/Sun-WT?)

Fallon is not an option in June (or any other month), We will probably plan on Eagle Point instead. Our sponsor wants to make a race near Medford.
