Paul Weiss made some licensing laps in his Lencodrive/BNR TAFC....

Word on the street has David Sumek converting his AA/AM Comp ride to TAFC/Screw Blower trim to run a TAFC with Lencodrive/BAE combo.

That will make for at least 5 Lencodrives in TAFC next year...myself, Mick Snyder, Daniel Wilkerson, Sumek and Weiss.

I also hear Bob Miner is interested in putting a Lencodrive behind one of his powerplants. Brett Williamson may be the one to try it...

Will I think I heard somewhere that John Anderika had bought a complete PSI setup for his East Coast Auto Electric sponsored Lencodrive equipped IHRA TAFC and would be out in D1 next year, that would make six, Paul Gill also has or had a Lencodrive setup, not sure what his latest plans are though.

Did he sell the Lencodrive? Paul's never had anything but a clutch in the car at a race from what I know, don't think he ever even tested with the "drive" setup, maybe Scott Maki can set the record straight on the Moduline team?

Will; as far as converting goes............
We're taking the spare driveshaft clamp and putting a few new things around it (like a complete car)!

    Lenco Drive

We as a team decided that the time and effort it would take to get to the point Mick and their team are was just not sensible for us. We run a limited schedule of late and for us to be competetive with the DRIVE set up would take alot longer than we have time for.As you all know time is money and only running 6-7 events a year we felt that the coventional set up was the way to go for us. We occasionally get that thing to run pretty good and need every run just to learn how to make the clutch set up go faster. With Frank and Bob and Mickey and Dave and the Tasca's out there D1 is no cake walk.
We like to win as everyone does and its just a chore to keep up now. 5.40's? who can keep up with that?? The DRIVE set up sure has its advantages , maitenece wise and $$ wise after the initial purchase but, apples to apples the clutch is were this team should be. We were'nt afraid of trying it just as a team decision did not make sence for us..And yes the set up is gone and we will be out with the clutch next year.. Will i think we still have that pedal though if you know anyone who wants it
SEE YA this spring Scott and the Gill crew..:D

I don't know much about Mic Snider, but that Combo sure works better in his FC than it did in that Dragster they ran....

    Hello Everyone,
Just out of curiosity, what kind of costs are involved in switching over to a Lencodrive. I've heard rumors of $10-20k. I would imagine a lot of time and money was probably invested by Mick to get it sorted out as much as they have, that thing flies! I'm basically interested in the parts cost, best convertor mfg. for the application.

About $10k for the Lencodrive, $3k for the Tit. Bellhousing from Trick, and around $2k for a Coan Mega 10" Converter.

    $$$

Not To Mention The Right Motor Combo Gear Ratio, 2 Step Pedal,
Balistic Tranny Blanket, Hoses, fittings, Blah Blah And The Info Is Not Easy To Come By As One May Think!!! It Was Not A Drop In Deal.
Alot Of Reworking Stuff Moving Stuff Around I Guess It Depends On The Who's Chassis You Have Also, Paul's Current Car Is A Copy Of The Newberry Car We Had A While Ago. Kinda Narrow And Not A Ton Of Room For The Lenco Drive.. It Fit But Was Tight In The Foot Area..not To Discourage Anyone But Do Your Homework.

    apples to apples

once you compare apples to apples on cost, it's about a wash, clutch vs. lencodrive. if you were buying new in both.

in reality, there is nowhere near the used parts out there for the drive vs clutch stuff...so conceivably you could put a clutch combo together cheaper.

15-17k is a realistic cost once you get everything for a top alcohol application. If you compare that to $5k for a brand new lenco, 6k for new clutch, 3500 new bellhousing, blanket and accessories, then throw the clutch grinder in....it's about a wash.

You might also call Jimmy Paquet at JPT transmissions: ph. 517 663 0578 & fax. 517 663 8207. He makes a great 11inch Northstar converter that doesn't heat the oil and works great. We just don't make the kind of power to run with the big dogs. Mine had TIG welded fins from Chris Razor and a billet steel stator. Price is right on too. Bobby Blue 359
