I run steel heads that have water passage ways, I run them dry without water. What would be a good product to use to fill the passage ways?
I am getting tied of trying to get all the rust scale out off them ever time I remove the heads.

Try some of the expanding foam from Home Depot? i think it's called Great Stuff. Might work w/ no extra weight.

DONT!!!!! back in the early eighties we (team Celko)tried to isolate the heat from the lifter valley to manifold plenum with "Great Stuff" foamed between a sheet metal pan and the bottom of the manifold. The heat from the oil bath on the bottom of the tray and head heat transfer was enough to melt the foam back into the gooey stuff that comes out of the can nozzel. It was a MESS trying to clean up the bottom of the manifold with a scraper over a barrel at Maple Grove. And the reason they give you vinyl gloves with every can is you dont want to get that gunk on your hands. Takes about a week to wear off your skin.
However. There is a fire blocking foam used in the construction industry that's used to foam pipes or cables that run through firewalls or floor penetrations. Also comes in a can. I imagine if it has a four hour fire rating it should last in a cylinder head.

    Head Filler

Years ago we had a set of AFR iron heads that had cracks in the water jackets and we hard blocked them. This worked good for a backup set, but every weekend (about 8 passes) the exhaust seats would warp real bad. We kept them in the trailer for emergency use only. Now we use aluminum with water on our Top Dragster ( blown sbc ) and only have head gskt problems in the center, now we are putting more water into the center of the heads. Good Luck Trailer

I don't run water at all.
I thought the filler may increase strength in the heads and stop scale.
