ihra pro comp?

    here's a real loose thought...

    with ihra alky fc being on the ropes...would opening it up to a pro comp style eliminator bring a much needed spark to the category?

    current roots fc's....bring in screws with added weight and big wicker bills...altereds allowed...injected nitro fc's and altereds w/ limitations....give the pro outlaw type dragsters bigger blowers.....maybe roots dragsters....screw dragsters with od limits...

    back to 16 car fields....

    like i said...real loose thought...

    i would love to see ihra style racing preserved for those competitors. if a long term sponsor is waiting in the wings to preserve the class....then good...maybe it doesn't call for drastic measures.

    first objection...too hard to keep parity. ihra seems to be proactive keeping the pro mod deal equal. the class would be started with the mindset...expect parity, expect rules changes. the fan interest in this class would justify the headache by the sanctioning body.

    am i on to something, or do i need to lay down the pipe..?:eek: :D

    Does anyone think FC's or Altered's can run with with Dragsters?

    I think that would be a good idea...you may be on to something; I don't know that I would want to support it though if every kind of car imaginable was thrown into the pot. What I mean by that is I don't think that injected nitro funny cars/dragsters would ever come close to running the same as a roots fc, dragster, or altered. The screw blower deal might work, but I think the OD limits would have to be lowered drastically to make it comparable to a roots car - I wouldn't know where to start with the numbers on OD though. Another thing to consider would be the minimum weights for the different cars. Yeah back to 16 car fields would be an absolute must.

    So the technical side of things would be difficult at first, but I think it would be a cool deal to run in, especially for the fans watching!

    I am curious to see what if anything Evan Knoll does for the IHRA af/c class now that he has a vested interest in IHRA . He has his hand in every pro class but af/c in IHRA . He must have some interest in the class seeing as he does sponsor several NHRA af/c's . Not trying to hi jack the thread .

    That's a pretty interesting idea. Speaking from a fan's perspective, I'd love to see it. Managing "parity" among all these combinations could become a nightmare however - might make the B/AD vs A/FD and blown vs nitrous pro mods look like a schoolyard scuffle.

    But it'd be really nice to get my TAD fix right in my own backyard instead of going down to Seattle... I loved the old Pro Comp class and don't see why it can't work again.

    I think it would be a good idea. There is not many places to run a roots blown dragster with a clutch. The pro top outlaws and Ihra rules call for an automatic. It would be nice to have a place for the non-competitive tad's to run.
