Hi as in my other post I am trying to switch from a carb S/C car and go faster. Now, a hemi to go in a 2.1 SFI RED. Are the head bolt patterns and bore spacing the same on the KB's, BAE's, TFX and other aftermarket blocks? Heads, same are they interchangeable between blocks? I will be running blown alcohol and will be piece mealing this thing (unless someone wants to trade a motor for my altered) so what is a good foundation, the KB 10, TFX, BAE? Same with the heads, something that isn't the newest, hottest thing out but works great and is a little less? I would only need single plug heads. Thanks for your input.

In a round about way I did the same thing, i run a kb block and run a set of brad fuel heads..this works great for us we ended up with one of connie kalita's blocks and a set of fuel heads this combo. works great for us and there is a lot of fuel heads out there. but I will also tell you when you buy the parts buy good parts pay a little more money it pays off in the long run. good luck, Dave Lowe

So, is the Arias/Fontana with billet heads a good dependable motor that will take the boost you guys put out with a blower? The tractor pull guys use the motor a lot and they have parts. Is it worth it? With a screw would it keep up with you guys?

    call Robert Reehl

I did the same thing as you.I don't have real deep pockets, but the best Horsepower per doller combo I found was a KB block,BAE -4 heads!Theres lots of used parts out there.I think the only thing I bought new was the intake manifold, pushrods, cam, lifters and gaskets.(short block was freshened when I bought it)Robert Reehl was extremely helpfull with parts and info.I would call him first.
Then call JR at RBS for everything on top.Hope this helps.

I will have a complete long block for sale in a few months. KB block, BAE fuel heads, new manifold from Robert Reehl, new pistons and spares. I did what most of these guys did and started from scratch. Now its time to upgrade.

The most expensive and time consuming way to buy into the HEMI scene is to try to buy it one piece at a time. You will end up with LOTS of parts that do not fit. Because almost nothing interchanges. It is not like Chevy land.
I could go into the different deck heights, different cam journal size and locations lifter bank angles lifter bore spacing lifter diameters, different port sizes and locations, different rocker arm shaft and stand combinations to match the different valve angles in all of the different brands and types of heads and their different combustion chamber sizes and shapes then try to match that to the pistons that have to match the right rod length to the crank stroke. Well so far thats just the tip of the iceburg.
Your best bet is to buy a complete used engine Hat to Pan from one of the higher dollar teams that is buying the latest stuff new to replace what they are selling. Take it home and completely disassemble it. Inspect deburr and clean every single part replace anything that will not pass inspection. Then put it all back togeather again with NEW rods and bearings.
Get the BAE 4 or 5 heads and BAE or KB raised cam std deck block combination.
    Thats my two cents worth.
