Which way do you point your port nozzles? This engine is new to me and all the port nozzle bodys were facing up ( towards the blower)? It is a 500 ci KB with a Whipple on alcohol. It is in a drag boat. Does it matter? Thanks for any advise.

aim them so the fuel is spraying into the ports not twards the blower if it was tward the blower some of the fuel could go back under the blower and or into an adjasent port so it defies the reason for port nozz whoever installed them must have been standing on there head too long or sometimes this happens when if they were whisky drunk

The nozzels should spray toward the intake valve, NOT toward the blower, the hat nozzels should spray at the blower roters.

here should be a dot or mark on one of the flats of the nozzle and that should be up. When in that position the spray is down. If no mark then put a mark on them so you know which way they are pointed when installed but I bet there is a mark already there.

The person that put the nozzels in this motor obvisley didn`t know what they were doing, if i were you i would take the fuel system and send it out to be flowed, this person might have mixed up the nozzels and put them in the wrong ports too, that could have a bad ending on your new motor, like BOOM

That has always been my understanding as well. Pointed down towards the valve. Yes they are marked on 1 of the flats with a "B". I was told by Amos Satterly (sorry if mis-spelled) that on fuel motors some of the tuners point them up for a better mix? Again thanks for all the replys. I have many more questions ahead. New to this "HEMI" thingy! ;)

The 'B' should face the blower and not the runner in the head .

    Ports

Sdpm I Have Seen The Same Thing And Was Told This Was A Amos Secret. Amos's Tune Ups Do Very Well In Boats And Sand Cars And Fuel Alt. I Was Told This Would Better Atomize The Fuel And Was Worth Hp. Once At Pomona I Saw Paul Crafasi When He Ran A Roots Last Year Same Thing Ports Facing Up Towards The Blower And Hat Nozzles Pointing Towards The Incoming Air Not Towards The Rotors. I Asked Why And He Said His Tuner(barry Patton) Did It That Way And Was Worth Hp. Ralph Gorr Walked Over To Say Hi And We Both Looked At It And His Comment Was You Got Me. There Is A New Port/hat Nozzle Made By Jbr We Have Been Selling They Have A Ball Nose On Them And Barely Stick Thru The Hat Or Port And Are Supposed To Disturb Airflow Less Than The Traditional Point That Sticks Out A Ways.

Hi JR, you and I have been playing phone tag. Ralph won't be back until the middle of next week and I was going to run this by him, but from what you said he doesn't know either? I agree with you about Amos's history, but he told me that they only do this on fuel motors not alcohol? I will talk to him again next week to try and gain a little more info. I was just wondering if anyone else on here knew about this good or bad. Thanks

I helped Dee Gant put some in a fuel Head on Dakins Top Fuel car He pointed them up too. I thought it looked funny but he said it makes a good mix too. Then I also seen them put in at the 3 and 9 position but not spraying right at the plugs cause it would wash them out. just my 02 Alky different story. There are some heavy hitter alky guys on here I would listen to them (I DO) Jason
