I Have Read The Other Post On Bearings And Found Them To Be Very Good. My Question Is And I'm Assuming That Everyone Is Speaking Of The Hemi. We Run A Rodeck (chevy) 526 Hi Helix On Alky Is The Chevy Engine As Hard On Bearings As The Hemi? How Often Should I Check Bearings On This Engine? Only Turning It About 7500-7800. I Know This Will Tell You Alot About Your Tune Up But We Dont Lean on It Hard At All,at This Point Just Trying To Get From A-to-b Thanks

I don't think that a hemi is any harder on bearings than the Chevy. It is all in the tuneup. With ProMods we don't check the bearings between rounds unless something went wrong. We do check them after the day of racing is complete.

we ran a 557ci Rodeck in an alcohol Flat Bottom Dragboat, it ran low 7s all day long in two classes average 30% on the blower(1471 hi helix) and hardly ever checked bearings. (against my idea) but it never hurt them and they got changed every season

But the differance you have is the easy accesibility to the bottom end its really easy to drop the pan.

    Rodeck bearings

I ran an 11.5:1 562" Rodeck 60% on the helix. A methood I used to monitor bearings was start up oil pressure (cold) when that number dropped 5 lbs. or so, I would look into the bearings. Good for more than 30 passes as long as you didn't lean on the tune up too hard. Seemed like to moly on the rings went away before the bearings did anyhow.
I also found the bearings liked to be set up slightly looser fit at set up better than tight for longevity. The machined surface on the main caps take a harder beating than the bearings - I think that's the "MAIN" difference between a Chevy and a Hemi Y block.
