Anyone have any experiece with a ProMag 12? We're running a nostalgia
style alky funny, not any big show stuff.

The idea of not having a rev limiter on my SMIV is not appealing to me.

I used one on an exhibition door car for years with no problem. I ran a 540 blown big block chevy. I switched over to the bigger cap and used the msd pro wires. never had a problem.

Do they take the same drives (ie base the same) as a Super Mag?
And I don't see a listing for a coil needed. Is it all done thru the points box?

    Thanks,
    Keith

keith i have a 44 msd nice used one with rev limiting points box hemi rotation go right on your dunn drive you do still need a coil as well. you can get into all kinds of exotic six shooter set ups. we have run a few 12's on blowm alky in the lt version which is the lightweight that a lot of sprint cars run and a few that were regular. all seemed to work good. did you check around for a psi rev limiter. they are simple and work well. wiz bang if you are looking for mallory mags give me a call i have some 3's 4's and i think a five. 530-292-3368

    Thanks for the reply.
I'm HOPING to get out this weekend, it has rained 14 of the last 16 days here!!!
    Very frustrating!!
I have heard some horror stories about parts breakage with a PSI limiter, that's why I inquired about a MSD 12. And I'm a solid state guy, not really into changing points etc...
Need to get the car down the track first, then I'll make a decision. Just gathering data....Keith

One other thing to consider is the msd stuff is great but the power it produces is very hard on caps and leads. Some of the door slammer guys over here are replacing caps every second pass and leads each meet. But the extra amp definately make the tuning easier

Back in 1999 we ran a 5.64 at 255 with a pair of 12's. We never had any problems with them.
