Well theres only about a 16th gap in between the liner and the clutch plate, and you can get it on when its cold just fine, but that clutch expands as it gets hotter, then you add a little tire shake, and it hits and tears up the whole clutch. It aint like you can just pull those clutch liners out.

Colin have your clutch balanced. It stopped our problems, and also helped out our rear main.

Colin, I blew a transmission a few years ago and it allowed the clutch to run out. It got into the liners seriously. Check to make sure your pilot bearing and transmission bearings are in good shape. They help keep the clutch lined up.

Colin, Is your bellhousing positioned on-center with the crankshaft? Check with a dial indicator/ fixture attached to the crank flange. Rotate the crank to read any run-out to the transmission opening in the bellhousing. Misalignment here possibly caused by excessive crank line-boring,would reduce clutch to bellhousing clearence near the top of the bellhousing.

Any misalignment here obviously causes the floaters and discs to rotate around different centers, resulting in excessive slippage, and poor performance of the clutch.

Dang Ken I just read the post and was going to suggest the same thing, but you beat me to it.
Any mis-match here can cause all kind of problems and is the type of thing that is easily over looked.

Colin WHere is the clutch hitting the bell in the middle or by the flywheel end. If its hitting in the middle or backside it could be laying over the stands. Tis will cause rear main trouble. Is the hat hard to come off. Is the flywheel or the hat hitting the liners.

Colin I know of your problem all too well. Crower won't admit that they have a problem. We had the same problem two years ago. As far as Crower was concerened it was the clutch guys fault, the chassis's fault anything but the clutches fault. We killed the liners twice with a brand new clutch Trust me it is not the bellhousing. Last time it happened I took the bellhousing to Detroit myself and watched the guys at Trick Titanium jig it.Finally Crower said they would credit us the cost af the aluminum shit and put it towards a titanium unit Guess what NO PROBLEMS last year.I heard that there were a few teams with egg shaped hats

    Hello Guys
On this concentricity problem on the line between the crank centerline and trans centerline is there a repair for this like offset dowels or a dowel centering kit like in HD or automotive applications or do you sell the block and start from scratch
    Thanks JDD
