Sbc Spark Plugs

    Looking For A Good Spark Plug To Run In A Sbc Blown Engine. Using Brodix Track 1 Heads With A 8-71 And A Vertex Mag. Looking For A Brand And Number Thanks

    If they are the gasket seal that are .750" then use a NGK R5671A-9.

    JR we have the blown SBC wih a 14-71 and run the NGK 6061-10

    we have the -12 Brodix heads

    The 6061 take a 13/16 socket and the 5671 takes a 5/8 socket so that will make a difference depending on the head.

    The fact that the plug is a -9 or a -10 doesn't really make much difference since you are not reading the porcelein color when using alcohol. Which ever is easier to get.

    that depends. If it doesnt blister the porcelein,id rather have a hotter plug than 1 too cold and try to misfire because of tip temp being too low.A hotter plug doesnt control combustion chamber temp any how, it just controls tip temp.If their is a lot of cylinder pressure, a colder plug will help to keep it out of detonation,but otherwise using a 9 over a 10 wont make or break the engine.

    I run R5671-11 with MSD 7-AL2 .020 gap, 11.7 to 1, 8-71 standard helix, 8% over 19-23 lbs of boost, no misfires and no problems, runs 6.70's 201-203 mph.
