has anyone ever used a 44 amp pro mag on a sbc, i have just built a 427 ci sbc with cnc ported dart 18 degree heads, dart iron eagle bock, crower crank, grp rods, cp pistons, big roller cam, 11:1, with a kuhl 871 hi helix retro it will be at 50 over, hogan sheetmetal, injected on alcohol, hat and port nozzles, 990 pump, its a pretty strong little engine its going to have a hard life, i have a 44 lying around but i have never used one on a small block before only hemi's or bbc's, what does everyone think? and if im going to use it what sort of timing?

Why not? theirs a guy here whos got one on his. I would think around 30 degrees to start and look for the timing mark when the fuel is right.

    timing

if 31 worked with a pro mag 12, 29 will probably be the ticket with a 44...

We used a 12 for years with our hemi, ran low 80s, we have a 44 now and use 8 degrees less and its much happier.
