anyone got a solution for keeping the racepak magnet in the front hub on the lenco for a lencodrive? epoxy does not work - i have slung the magnet out 5 times. lenco put the magnet in 3 times without any success and i have tried twice. lenco said at one time they had magnets that were in an aluminum housing that had threads on it but they no longer have them. anyone ever seen or tried putting the magnet on the converter or flywheel with any success. my fear is that the larger the diameter of the converter or flywheel the more difficult it will be to keep attached due to centrifical forces. lenco does not recommend drilling the front hub from the inside and making a stepped hole to keep the magnet attached - something like the rings that magnets are attached on the rear end pickup.

when you use the input side of the lencodrive you are able to have your race pak plot the rpms before and after the converter - hence slippage and lockup of the converter. the converter people love these numbers to help design the converter you need. using any pickup rpms after the transmision will not take into consideration any tranny slipage.

will - thanks for the feedback. i was beginning to think i was the only one with this problem. i am sure you are running the 2 piece converter - looking at mine it appears plenty on places to fab a bracket and also install the magnet in such a way that it will not come out. before i go to all of the trouble to make such a system i am looking to see if anyone has something better that works. they way the magnet installs in the ring on the rear end pick up is a 2 stepped hole that will not allow it to come out - if i can find a way to use this same idea somewhere else then the epoxie idea is out.

    Magnet

Drill, tap use screw in mangnet triggers,we used to do it for crank p/u wheels back in the day when the p/u was the magnet and sensors were non magnetic

where might one find the threaded magnets or a magnet that will accept threads. both lenco + race pak do not acknowledge that this material exists. they said in the past they had magnets that were threaded into an aluminum casing which in turn was attached via either a stepped drilled hole or again threads. the reasoning i got from them was that the threaded magnet held better in the aluminum than in the hardened front lenco hub. the current race pak magnets are not threaded but are held in place from the inside via a stepped drilled hole. you just drop them in and in the end centrifical forces hold them in place. these holes in the race pak pick ups are over .400 thick whereas the lenco front hub is less than .125 thick.
