IF your combination is 4.5 bore X 4.25 stroke , with tall deck block , you need
1.670 c.h. piston . J.E. make one piston with 1.645 C.H. a little shorter that make 12.0 to 1 with darts 345 heads normally around 120 cc ,P/N 111708 you can deck the block (around .020 ) to have to c.r. you want . I used this piston number in my 509 , 14-71 for many years and they do the job , but i run it 11.2 to 1 c.r. .

    Hi Fasttimesracing,

    You should be just fine.
One of my spare engines is a 9.8" at 505C" with 6.385" Manley super 70 aluminum rods and 12.5:1 slugs and it does just fine.

I doubt that JE piston your looking at is good enough for a blown alcohol motor. It's designed for a normally aspirated engine. Take a look at their nitrous series piston. Those are good for blown alcohol. If you don't believe me, call them, they'll tell you why.

that was the problem i ran into was the pistons. the nos pistons was to much comp and they didnt have any that was in the range i wanted . i called all the top piston companys and found out the same thing everywhere . so the ones we are having built are for blown alcohol with good pins. the last motor the rist pins failed and took alot of nice parts with them
