I have the room up front 2 run it.with fowlers though i dont know if I have enough room between the block and the belt!! He couldn,t give me an exact measurement needed to fit?? price wise his is the least expensive, but I cant risk buying it then needing to space out my belt, oil pump and etc?? would just like some help. thanx dean buy the way its a bbc

Pioneer magneto drive on the BBC

We run the Rodeck BBC engines in our F/C we also run the 14-71 with a 1-1/2” set back so there was no way to get to the stock ignition drive location without using an offset drive unit. We decided on running the mag up front using a Pioneer drive unit. The belt is out there a bit from the face of the block, we set our engines up like this from the get go so I really don’t have any comparison dimensions without the pioneer drive in place. I can however take some dimensions off the front of one of our engines if this will help.

We like having the magneto driven up front and have found that you don’t have to mess with the mag at all to do routine engine maintenance.

    Mag Drives

DEAN WE SELL ALL THREE MAG DRIVES AND THEY ALL HAVE PRO AND CONS. ON THE PIONEER IT IS THE MOST ECONOMICAL AND WORKS WELL BUT WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT IT IS YOU HAVE TO SPACE THE BLOWER DRIVE OUT TO CLEAR THE BELT BY THE MAG. THE FARTHER IT IS SPACED OUT THE HARDER ON THE CRANK,SNOUT,IDLER ETC. THE DUNN DRIVE IS EXCELLENT WE CAN DO A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT WAYS WE CAN ALL QUICK RELEASE CLAMP OR DO BOLT ON PUMP. THE THING I LIKE ABOUT THE DUNN DRIVE IS WE CAN DO THE FUEL PUMP ON THE OFFSET PORTION ALLOWING THE FUEL PUMP TO BE PUT AT THE LOWEST POINT ALLOWING PRIMEING EASIER AND BETTER FOR THE MAG TO BE RIGHT OFF THE CAM. THIS DRIVE USES A RUBBER 5MM BELT WITH KEVLAR CORDS IN IT. THE RCD IS ALSO A NICE DRIVE BUT ONLY ALLOWS THE PUMP TO BE OFF THE CAM AND THE MAG ON THE OFFSET. IT USES A 8MM KEVLAR BELT WHICH IS VERY STRONG. THEY ALL WILL WORK VERY WELL IF YOU GO TO FLYING MAGNETS ON A CRANK TRIGGER. HOPE THIS HELPS AND IF YOU NEED ANY HELP OR WANT TO SEE PICS GO TO WWW.RBSSUPERCHARGERS.COM AND LOOK UNDER THE MAGNETO DRIVE SECTION. OR CALL 530-292-3368
