after making a good pass , i got home & checked my plugs for continuity with a fluke meter & had 4 of them , with no continuity , but never dropped a cyl & the plug looks great , but has very high resistance , compared to the plugs that have cont. any body else ever ran into this & how does the cyl stay lit ? or am i thinking way too much
also i dont use warm up plugs i race on what we warm up on , & some times reuse em, started checking em after watching another racer using a buzz box on his before he put em in , & it made sense to start checking em
NOTE THE ONES THAT FAILED THE TEST HE DIDNT RUN EM , & HIS CAR RUNS VERY WELL

    Whats good? Whats Not?

    :D Interesting question????
Think I will start doing the same as I do not chunk plugs unless they have the electrodes damaged.

    Plugs

The plugs are probably still good as long as the center electrode does not show a short to ground. You can check new plugs and some will show and open but they will still run good .According to Champion the spark will still bridge the small gap that happens during mfg. We have never had any problems with them. Mike

Thats interesting, by my thinking, you dont want continuity between electrodes. It's the sparks job to arc across the air gap to the earth strap,

    or

are you talking about testing the continuity of the centre electrode only, from one end of the plug where the HT leads plugs onto it, to the centre electrode in the combustion chamber, where you definately want coninuity?

    plugs

Yes checking the center the contnuity doesn't matter. If shows from the center to the outside the plug would be bad.

    Try this...

Open up a brand new box of plugs and check the continuity of them...

You'll be plenty surprised at the results...

    Testing Testing 123

This certainly is an interesting thread and it got me thinking so yesterday I opened up 2 cases of NGK #10 plugs and checked every one of them for opens and shorts. I found them all to be A-OK.
I’m not trying to say that this test is unnecessary. I think it’s a great idea. I just lucked out with my last batch of plugs that’s all.
