    Staging

I Have Watched Ronnie Nunes With His Aa/gas 63 Vette Use This Pretty Wild Kinda Like A Prostock Motorcyle At Stage So Far No Blower Belt Problems Or Dropped Cylinders And He Says Makes His Reaction Times Deadly Repetitive.

    2-step

alot of pro mod guys are going to it.

you get more boost at the hit b/c the butterflies are wide open instead of nearly shut like they are at stage rpm. the downside is you are bypassing the barrell valve, so you're quite a bit richer at stage. in pro mod you can have an electric leanout circuit connected to the button you let go of the 2 step with. in tad/tafc, you cannot have electronic control of any fuel system timers....so it makes a stage leanout a little more difficult.

i've heard it's hard on cranks and i've heard it's not. one of the guys that says it's not is stan ray, and he's a crank guy (ohio crank).

    re: lencodrive

we haven't tried it yet because we got all the steam we need down low with the boost we have, and the converter deal likes to be lean at stage.

Since you mentioned ProMods.....a lot of us guys are switching to a two step launch. Frankie Taylor has used it for over a year with out a motor damage. He first tried a fuel bypass and kept on raising the heads because he was always too lean. Now he does not bypass while on the limiter. He makes around 25 lbs of boost while on the limiter at staging. We tried it in our car for the first time and it seemed good. No problems yet but we have the Digital Pro Mag controller that uses a soft touch rev limiter so it is not as hard on the limiter as a regular MSD 2 Step. We also lowered our launch rpm to make up for the extra boost at launch until we get a handle on it. At Valdosta a couple of weeks ago there were probaly 5-6 ProMods using the two step. Some bypass fuel some don't. Time will tell.

    we got it

we got it on the car, haven't used it. we won't be doing the wide open launch, we're just going to use it to control launch rpm more accurately than chasing around the stage linkage adjustment on the two-stage pedal set up we run. we'll set our linkage to slightly higher than what we normally stage at, then control the desired launch rpm with a chip. that way i can still control the barrel valve.

i believe grimes tried it with the obannon car last year. i don't know if payne has tried it on his deal or not.

    Worlds Quickest Lencodrive

Don't know what Wayne Morris did over the winter but they are now the quickest lencodrive car on the planet with a 5.423 261.93 first round win last weekend. followed up with a 5.471 257.80 second round loss. I overheard they dropped a cylinder during the run and picked it back up again. Boy division one is gonna be exciting again this season. Nice Job Guys!

Since a PSI screw blower doesn't make big boost until it RPMs I would think that staging on a Two Step with a PSI would work better than with a Rootes blower.

I'll be able to tell you guys what it does with a PSI screw "C" rotor, in about
3-4 weeks. Running it on an outlaw Pro Mod, starting it at 88% over. Not gonna pull any fuel out, Davenport told me to just put it to the wood with no lean out, and let it fly.

Does that sound like a normal bracket motor on a two step, or is there some other msd rev limiter? How would you do this on a car without a transbrake? Clutch switch maybe, or button on the steering wheel?

Clutch switch, set as low as possible, you can also probably lower your airgap.

Yeh, we got a new C rotor from PSI about a month ago. I'll post Dyno #'s and other info from the car on here. Hopefully we have enough time to dyno it. Partner on the car is getting antsy.
