For example 1.25 AND 1.35 make a 1.68 (OR 1.69) low gear. Obviously a F/C Which pack would you put in the front and which one would you lock up first? Take away the big number first (1.35 on the 1-2 SHIFT) to help the clutch unlock. This would allow you to run more clutch for high gear and for launch and still get through the 1-2 shift????

Which one in the front case???

Which one do you lock up first???

Which one would you change to get a lower low gear(higher number)??? front or rear case

I would like to hear from F/C guys and TAD also.
    Thanks in advance!!!

I think alot of people will tell you to use the 125 second gear but unless you have your tune up really down it will slow you down. most of us run them as lean as possible till high gear were you now have more load and more boost and the motor needs lots of fuel. i would stick with the higher numeric number for second gear . just my opinion

    Testing

Wow! is that for a screw car ?? or do you run a 4.56/4.88 Gear ??seems low ??
Maybe try your deal and then switch the shifter lines on the next pass with no changes and see what it reads like on the slip and computer , you don't have to drive it thru just shift into high and then compare?. Just a thought.
Then maybe try a 35/38 or 31/35 ?? or some thing and see what it does ,sometimes the more ratio you have the less O/D (Roots only) you need and it maybe more effective power as it makes the car seem lighter (all Theory) ?

    higher in 2nd

maybe roots deal & fc is diff, but a few years back at Indy, some gear sets got installed backwards in Jay Meyer's car. we noticed it was taking longer than normal to get through 2nd. we were making a ratio change anyway and discovered the problem. car responded immediately to putting the numerically higher ratio in 2nd.

in my opinion, it helps the car run through 2nd harder, and get to high gear quicker, which helps it run out the back door and mph...

after my performance in gainesville....who's gonna listen to my tuneup tips...LOL

I think everyone is trying to tell you to keep the higher numerical gear set in second:) , like "Will" said it runs the car through second quicker and helps get/keep that clutch locked up again after the gear shift. Keep that clutch close to the engine rpm to run faster/quicker...a 1.25 in second will add considerable time and delay to clutch and rpm recovery..and when your looking for hundredths of a second why compound the problem...mho:p
