how much back lash should their be between the idler gear and crank gear on a billet tfx gear drive?? if its too tight now will the block grow when it warms up and loosin up the gears??? has any one ever measured the back lash of the idler like you would the back lash of the rear end ring gear???? the crank turns fine but the only slop i can feel in the idler is in the idler bearings... thanx mike 708-205-9052

Now remember this was 20+ years ago on a Rodeck BB/Chevy. We used to run a piece of paper through the gears and when it didn't cut the paper to shreds we figured that should be about right. Kinda of low tech but we never had a problem with it.

Have you done any work to the main bearing bores ? , it is not uncommon to use a undersize gear if the mains have been align bored .

    See Guys
Some things just never go out of style!!!
Some times the old way is better than a new way.
