Ready to have the motor receiver grooved. The heads are already o-ringed
with .041 wire protruding .012.S.c.e. recommends receiver groove .008 deep
.060 wide.Question is will .060 be wide enough.I have been told to open it
up to.100. What do you think?I have been reading posts here for quite awhile
and found there are quite a lot of knowledgeable gearheads here and would
appreciate your input. My ride is finally going together.

I wouldn't go over .060 wide with a .041 wire and .012 to .015 depth should work fine.

    Groove Width/Depth

We would suggest .008"-.010"D to start with. Every engines head/block flange is a little bit different. Even at .006"D x .060"W, you lock the gasket well enough to keep it trappped, even under detonation/head lift conditions. The shallower the groove, the more load you will have focused on the combustion seal...a good thing. In going this shallow, you may take a little bit away from the body, hence potential coolant issues, depending on the head gasket brand.
