In an effort to provide the best testing conditions possible for teams preparing for the NHRA POWERade season opener and the Pontiac Pro Stock Showdown, the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is making the Last Chance Test Session on Feb. 2-5 an invitation-only event for Top Alcohol, Top Fuel and Pro Mod teams. Qualifying criteria is as follows:

Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car: Open only to teams finishing in the top eight of their NHRA divisional point standings or in the top 20 in national standings. All cars will be required to make side-by-side runs during their assigned sessions. Alcohol license runs will not be permitted at this event.

This may become an issue for some of you that missed the first session and plan on running Pomona

    InsideTopAlcohol.com Top Alcohol Warm Up

I ran into the same problem trying to test at Houston's PS Super Bowl - No Top Alcohol cars allowed. But they will allow us to rent the track the Sunday after.

So the following ruling - No Pro Stock cars allowed at the Top Alcohol Warm Up. Period.

-Back to your normally scheduled programming....

(before someone gets all uptight, this is said in jest. i don't anticipate any PS cars looking to come.)

    Bucky/Marty

I wonder how this will effect the planned debut for Marty Nothstein behind the wheel of Bucky's flopper? Will they go off the car owner?

These test sessions are not NHRA events so I doubt they would have given the DD a heads up.

True, NHRA defer's inquiries back to The Strip and they say the press release went out last Thursday.

But where there is a will there is a way. Southwest Internationl Dragway would LOVE for some of us that don't match the criteria to come on out there and test on the 4th & 5th. they are in Tucson and a D-7 divisional track. The track manager assured our team that they would prep the track to hold the horsepower. If anyone wants any more info, their number is 520-762-9700.

Fontana, Ca is also open, however, any data you get at this point won't work for the new track they are to open in the spring before the D-7 race happens.

    Cheers,

Hi Frankie, Happy Belated New Years to you & Debbie.

Right now we are shooting for Phoenix D-7 race, a lot has to happen in between now & then, but we're getting there.

You guys are registered for Pomona, right? I think I saw that.

    Good luck out there.

    Cheers,
