turbos and BAE hemi?

    Just wondering about how a turbocharged, big bore short stroke hemi, like a BAE or Veney would run on alcohol? Would it make the same amount of power as a screw blower? I mean that something I havent seen anybody run yet. I bet it would be great for a outlaw style car. Waht do you guys think?

    The turbos make all kind of power if sized correctly. The problem with the application is managing the power as its application is not as linear as with conventional methods of supercharging. It just would take a great deal of development work and engineering. A good start would be Kenny Deteiler.

    do you think the setup would make more power than a more convetional 14-71 or screw blower?

    The turbos will make 20 to 30 percent more power than a 14-71.

    Fair Warning Tah

    The LUCUS OIL SPONSERED Fair Warning TAH DRAG BOAT is a boat that has been competing in the IHBA for some time using turbos instead of screw blower on top of an AJ motor.
    It has been a problem with consistancy.
    everynight @ 8pm PST they have been airing IHBA racing on DISH channel 216. you would be able to see it run

    With a turbo or even a centrifical for that matter, net power to the rear wheels is increased. The biggest problem with a turbo is control. If NHRA would allow electronic engine management systems the results would be significant changes in combinations. And I might add so would budget$ to run them.
    Back in the late 70's and early 80's I ran a turbo setup in sand racing. It took me two years to get it to run from point A to point B under power without lifting the intake system off the car. But once I found the happy spot it set class records.
    Gale Banks tried turbo's in Top Fuel some 15 years ago (maybe more??). I talked to him about it since I was running turbo's. He said the power hit so hard when the turbo's came in that it would shear flywheel bolts off. And they were also splitting rods long ways. It would drive the pin right down into the rod. They just could not control the power in a usable way.
    Of course NHRA banned turbo's in TF after Banks spent a ton of money trying to make it work.

    Well, nowdays with the electronic boost controllers seems to me you could have a better handle on how the boost comes in. I know on my car im going to run an Innovative boost controller and it can progressivly control your boost just about any way you want. I just thought id ask about turbos with the hemis to see what everyone thought. Thanks for the replys. BTW how is the turbo more violent in the way it makes power more so than a screw blower that makes full boost as soon as you hit the throttle?
