14mm mix with 13.9 pulley ??

Another noob question.
Can you successfully run a 14MM belt on 13.9 MM pulleys?
I bought a batch of pulleys and a belt that was advertised as 14mm but the are 13.9MM
Only 13.9 belt available is too short for my use.
I have had some racers tell me its ok to run a 14MM belt on the 13.9 pulleys even though the 14MM is a few thou wider than the 13.9
Any opinions or real world experience with this?

 

you can run a 14 mm belt on 13.9 pulley, did it for years.

 

I have run the 14mm GT belts on HTD and GT 14mm pulleys many times and never had a problem and even have run a mix of 13.9 and 14mm pulleys at the track when I had nothing else to use and never any problems either. And have 69 runs on a 14mm GT blower belt now on a heavy rotor 980 Whipple now and expect to get 100 runs on it too-

 

I run that set up with Whipple 980 screw and 1471 roots blowers all different combos no problems
