    Base tune up needed

    Hi Leon,

We are hoping to get a lot of that filler information from you guys so we know what tune components to install.
We have a pretty good supply of tune up parts but need a base point to start from.
Are last engine was only fuel injected and of a smaller cid so with this new engine everything will be totally different for us.
    The cam is; Intake Exhaust
    Lash .026 .026
    Gross lift .809 .782
    Duration 336 348 @ .020 tappet lift
    Duration 296 308 @ .050 tappet lift
    Installed @ 114 in CL
    Lobe separation 114

The Rodeck block is only good for about 1800 HP before they will try to lose the crank.
Because of this we are looking for a tune up of around 1500 HP as a starting point

    Thanks,

    Joe:)

The first thing id do is have the pump flowed along with the rest of the system. That way you know where the system pressures will be and some kind of base is established. Dave Koehler is in Ill and can get you going.http://koehlerinjection.com/ You also need to determine the fuel requirements at what ever boost you will be running along with the effective c/r at that boost level. Its really a waste of time trying to setup a system without that info_Once you get it flowed, then you can at least get it down the trk to determine what the engine wants.

We ran a combination a lot like yours except it was a 526 incher with a 110 pump. 3000lb car with a glide. We ran the blower 34% over(about 30psi). In the hat 52 nozzles in the front two and 50's in the rest.We never tune with the hat nozzles. The ports are from 48-40 with the bigger ones in the front.69% on the barrelvalve. 34 deg timing.Used a .085 main in approx 1500 ft air. We use NGK plugs. Make a short squirt and check them...you'll find the fuel distribution sucks on a Chevy and you'll have to run fatter on a few cylinders. We ran mid 7's@185 right out of the box. I don't think you'll need any timing controls or leanout systems to make 1500hp. The timing might be helpfull for slippery tracks.
Our Rodeck died after 4 passes. If you run a Titan wetsump make sure you carry at least 12 qts in the pan and use an accumulator.
Every setup is different but this should give you an idea of what you need.
