    Hi all!
first, let me apologize in advance if this is a dumb question:
is it possible to use a wet sump oil pump(KB billet,16AN inlet from oil pan, then 2 12AN to and from filter) with a dry sump oil pan(16AN from pickup) and plumb it to a dry sump oil tank using the filter lines from the pump.
reason for asking is clearance issue between chassis and RCD dry sump oil pump, and i have the billet KB pump.
application is a blown KB hemi in 1/4 mile door car.
    thank you for any input/explanation.

Yes, it will operate purely as a scavenge pump delivering oil to the tank but it may not have enough volume capacity. Most dry sump pumps have a wider scavenge gear set than the engine supply gear set.
My P&P dry (damp) sump pump has 1.375" wide scavenge gears and 1.100" pressure gears. Both sections have -16 inlet and -12 outlet fittings.
You will then need another separate pump to supply oil from the tank back to the engine. RCD have an adapter for hemi pumps to be driven off the front of the engine. You could just mount your existing dry sump pump out there and blank off the side mounting position.

I'm not trying to argue here , but..
Your idea of using a wet sump oil pump to the job of a dry sump oil pump will NOT work. Reason 1 is that when the oil pump pumps the oil into the tank, it has be under pressure for it to go back into the engine. Most blown KB engines have about 100 pounds of oil pressure. A regular oil tank cannot handle that pressure. Reason 2 is that an oil pan with limited sump area will tend to have very little oil and more air to which the oil pump will pick up that air sending it to the oil tank. Which will in turn contaminate the oil going into the engine with air, which is bad. Reason 3 is an dry sump oil tank , when properly designed , will separate the air brought in with the oil. The tank then becomes a reservoir of clean oil with no air bubbles.
I could go on and on . I'm thinking you should make room for a dry sump pump and oil tank.
Also get an opinion from a dry sump oil pump manufacturer.
    Just saying.

Thanks a lot for answers and parts offerts!
Currently scratching my head to make a screw blown KB hemi fit where there used to be a chevy based Fulton nitrous engine...
Thought there was a lot of room in the engine bay but not that much in the end.
