You buy it and I'll try it. I was thinking more along the lines like MMC Alumex, but hey, go for it Rob :)!........

They are reasonably priced at only $18,000 a set. Says they are good for 1 million cycles at top fuel type pressures. Think of all the cash you can save on block repairs when you hang the rods out!

In all seriousness, I did a little research on the company and it appears that they also make rockers, pushrods, blower rotors, bellhousing, and who knows what else. They also hired Lee Beard as their Motorsports consultant. Looks like they are at SEMA and will also be at PRI also. If nothing else they are really cool to look at. If you did happen to blow those rods apart I bet you’d play hell getting all that carbon dust out of all the nooks, crannies, and oil passages.

Are the bolts threaded into the carbon fiber? That would worry me.....

    random thought...

We always get told carbon brake rotors are a sponge for oil.... I wonder how much oil these could absorb and what that would do to the weight?

Since the rod is bolted to the crank, how much of that weight reduction does the motor really notice? Steel rods don't seem to slow Pro Stockers down.

At that price, the rods would need to last as long as the block to really be cost effective.

They have some sort of advanced polymer coating or something to combat that they said. I think they are making those pro stock rods really light. I was reading an article today about the Jager Rods that were outlawed in prostock back in 2004. The rods were somewhere in the 400 gram range which was lighter than what they were running. The Jager Rods were made of some sort of custom aluminum alloy that didn’t “grow” with heat cycles and they were able to pinch down the static piston to head clearance without worry. Between the quench distance and the light weight the prostockers were able to pickup 50 hp on the dyno over a “conventional” rod and quench distance. That’s a huge pickup on an engine of that caliber. That would be equivalent to changing rods in an alcohol car and picking up 150 hp.

We do 25 runs on the rods,100 runs on the main caps,+100 on the cam, lifters, push rods,80-100 on the valves, valve spring 10-13 runs, pistons +50 runs ,car (ta/fc) is turned up to 10 000-10 200 rpm max.The live off the parts depends on the detonation controll

Thanks. Very informative. How many runs do you typically put on your 8mm screw belts before you replace? Wouldn't it be nice if all parts in/on could be made to live 100+ runs?

Our pro mod stuff will go 10,400-10,600 like clock work, 60mm cam, 1” lifter, getting an entire season or more out of springs, 25 runs on rods, pistons go an entire season, valves go an entire season. Our engines come apart after every race to look at and we lean on them pretty good, been 200+ at 2550lbs at 92 over with a c rotor.

I know this is an old thread, but as Rob asked has anyone tried the new Carbon Fiber rods yet? How did that go and how much "dust" wound up in the pan ?.........

They had a booth setup last year at PRI, I stopped by and they said they were supposed to test a couple sets in Arizona at the start of the season, but I haven’t heard anything after that. My guess is if they were a must have we would of heard something about it by now?

Hope things are good with you Rob!

At $1,225 per rod ($9,800 per set of 8) likely not anyone has ventured trying them.

Oh yeah, and they're already on their 2nd design iteration, which is supposed to be vastly superior to their first design version which has likely not run either.
