Shifting Lenco

    Pretty quiet here these COVID days!.....

    I have seen a lot of differing ideas related to when and how exactly to shift a "Lenco" (or not to do so).

    Let's say for sake of simplicity that this is a normal 3-speed CS2 in a blown alcohol door car (but could apply to other venues too).

    Some use the typical ACD box to shift based upon time, or RPM, or a driver over-ride input. Automatic mode I will call this. Same thing for ECU's effecting shifts in the same type manner.

    Some swear they will never, or never again, use automated shifting because a shift at an inopportune moment could (or has) caused an unexpected crash event and destruction of a vehicle as a result.

    What is truth or fiction here, and what are people's thoughts on the approach to take?

    This would be for mainly heads-up Pro Tree type stuff on mainly good but somewhat at times questionable tracks. Definitely not PDRA type tracks, far from!

    Figured this might be a good COVID thought starter. Anybody care to wade in?.......

    While i don't run a lenco, i do run an air shifted powerglide, with a button on the wheel.

    In the past i've shifted at "not the best moment" (crossed up, but the light came on, and i've trained myself to shift at the light - reacting to the light).

    No automated shift allowed in my deal, but i've ran them in the past. I've had it shift while it was spinning the tire. It's just a price you pay for the automation.

    Who makes the best auto shifter for a lenco?? CS1

    Electromotion. Been billet proof for 6 years now. Plus you can make fail safes in it. Like not shifting until after say 1.2 seconds. Or whenever.
