Most everybody uses a can of aerosol windshield decider that you can buy at Walmart of most gas stations. If you live in Florida it is hard to find. Amazon sells it online

I think de-icer is over-used. When was the last time someone had an issue when it wasn't used ?

Funny story -long time ago when the first hi-helix blowers came on we had sticking problem with our barn door.We started to use wd40 to solve the problem of icing,we were at Houston and NHRa had never seen anyone spaying the injector before-so after the backup and a spray by the crewman-NHRA officials grab the can we were using and had a little conference to what was the power additive were we spraying-this was the first time they had ever seen this done-By the way we won the supernationals-since then spraying has been being used-Mike-ps by the way there was a tussle between my crew guy and NHRA when they took the wd40 away

Lucky Devil if you run in Florida or Houston or anywhere there is high humidity and high heat you are going to get icing. It is the same principle of how a refrigerator works with all the air going through the tiny gap in the blades. When you get icing in high humidity the idle rpm will drop or the engine will stall or the blades can stick wide open.

Yup, here in the US you can get ice all over the outside of the hat just during warmup in the pits. If you don’t spray the blades the air gap gets blocked with ice and idle rpm drops.
