    Is it possible and reliable to built 526 c.i. motor ( 4.310 X 4.500 ) with a BAE low deck block ? converter , roots application .
Will i have problems with rod length , pin height or crank counterweight ?

Rods will hit the cam. They can be ground down to clear but this is a real pain in the a#$ and just dont make good sense to me although alot of racers do it.

Other than the rods and cam deal you need to take into consideration that 4.5 is a long strooke for short deck and therefore the piston will be way down on its skirt so it will move around more on bottom dead center.

I sincerely believe a shorter stroke and more bore is a better choice ..

So does BAE....the VI is shorter and bigger than the V stuff.

if you use a raised cam block , the rods will clear the cam without any problem. the crank to cam centerline on a raised cam block is the same no matter what the deck height is. you will have to run an extremly short rod which may hurt some performance. not to mention the geometry of the rod angle will be pretty drastic. if you haven't built it or bought the block yet go with a std. deck or a .100 tall block

I have a 572 CI KB hemi block standard cam height, using a B1 wedge head .500 short deck. 7.100 Oliver rods and Ross pistons.
A .500 short block may be easier to find since I think most teams seem to have gone a different direction.

I don't think a wedge head is a valid comparison to a hemi head. Fuel head or fat head ? Lifter spread ? Short deck blocks are still used in the screwcharger alcohol combinations.

Also...might be hard to get a low deck fuel head intake manifold. Dart and Veney use different intakes I think.
