Just looking for some insite or advice on this bearing wear. The lower bearings are smearing the Babbitt on the outer edges. Upper bearing looks great almost no wear at all. This is after 20 passes on CB527HND bearings.

KB Hemi block, 18lbs of boost approx. 1400hp. running Lucas 70 plus, 125 psi at idle( approx. 1800 rpm) 165 psi at the finish line at 7500’ish rpm. Picking up oil pressure on clean side of filter outlet, and I have a 3 quart accumulator to assist in shutdown area. I also shift into Neutral after finish line and shutdown engine with the Mag kill after shifting to Neutral. And yes I know unfortunately I didn’t clean the crank as well as I thought after I had it clearance ground, and it shows in the bearings. Also rod clearance is set at .0043-.0046 with .050 side clearance. And I checked all journals for taper out of round and barrel shape and there is none.

To me it looks like where the meth sat on the bearing while it was sitting. Totally Normal

Thank you guys for the reply’s, this was my second season out with a blown alcohol car, and first season with me as the engine builder. Just want to make sure I was doing everything right when I put it together and all the bugs I found last year were worked out. After tear down this year this rod bearing wear was the only thing I found that was questionable. Thanks again.
