I know it’s been awhile but what were guys like Santos running for block, heads, etc.?

Is any of that stuff still around?

Look up Scott Hall, he may have what you are looking for. Or may be able to help you. He is very knowledgeable on all of that stuff.

Just freshened a SB chev engine for a TS car, runs 6.60"s regularly with no issues. It uses a CN billet block, AJ heads rockers etc. Stuff is jewelry.....I don't think there is much better out there now for the SB?

Dale Hall and Santos ran stout in the day against the Hemis! Agreeing with Eric, Scott Hall probably is the guy to ask. Long history....

I saw the retail price on the aj heads and I have some idea what the Cn block goes for... which is all a pipe dream for me. I was thinking if there was some decent last gen stuff laying around out there it might be interesting for what I’ve been thinking about trying

I know in the 90’s we had a blown alcohol altered that ran in the NW and he ran old Santos combos. He ran Brodix 12 heads, Bowtie block, 4.125” bore 3.625 stroke. I don’t know the particulars as I was just a fan but I did talk to him after he retired. I do know he ran a screw and his best pass was a 6.04 nothing near what Santos ran but it was fun to watch.

I might be mistaken but, I don't believe Santos had billet anything, just cast parts.
IIRC, All-Pro heads were on one of his fast combos.

We ran 427 sb GM rocket block 9.300, there is more piston skirt support then running a aluminum block. Also the cylinder head seal it better. had a 14/71 HH on it, this combo was bullet-proof.. if anyone is Interested i still have All pro billet intake for sale $600.00 plus ride.

May not be that much of a pipe dream. My brother and I have a TD that was Santos inspired with a 388ci billet CN SBC, Brodix 12` solid heads, PSI screw blower, Chance converter, 3 sp Lenco drive, Mag 44, sitting in a 285" Jim Ford TAD frame weighing in at 1,660 lbs. Engine was assembled by Duane Saum before he passed.
If you want more info call Jerry @ 620-664-1060, he's the guy that make the AN "Lite" wrench. motor pic attached.

Danny Dunn rand a blown sbc in top dragster back in early 90's and to best of my recollection he ran 6.60's. Pretty sure it was nothing super special. Larry Cleary out of Wilksboro NC built the motors.

I know he visit site regularly and is running TA/D some.Might try hitting him up for some info.

IIRC Santos car was featherlight and they made 100s of runs perfecting everything.

We ran one, Santos helped us. Our car was on the heavy side and I was a newbie driver, still- we put it in the 5's back in 97.
