1/4" nylon hose

I run the electromotion auto shift valve and will be moving the location making it easier to service the car. Currently it has all stainless lines. Instead of making all custom lines I am thinking of switching over to 1/4 nylon hose.
With the B&J calling for 450lbs of pressure is there a better hose (can handle more pressure)that people use vs just the normal stuff we all used to run with out little air bottle for throttle stops etc??

Just trying to eliminate any problems in that area.

The line you want is DOT approved the colors tell what its to be used for in industry all the same pressure rated- higher than what is needed for your use fittings should also say d DOT approved

Not sure that DOT gives you what you need. I looked at McMaster-Carr and the DOT tubing is rated at less than 200lbs. I looked at the Parker Air Brake tubing flier and it says that they are rated for a working pressure of 150lbs. I'm sure the burst pressure is higher, but it looks like it's not really intended for use at 400+lbs.

McMaster does carry one style of tubing that is rated at 800lbs, but most of them are 300 or less.

The bigger question is fittings - all the push-to-connect fittings seem to be rated for pretty low pressure.

 

not quite true the dot nylon is rated at 300 min. burst pressure there are also bras push to connect that are rated at the min.300 also this the highest push to connect rating-Max use pressure is rated at300lbs. Look up mid America all the brake nylon tubing is rated at1000lbs.

The dot tubing has a lower rated pressure to keep the truckers from turning up the brake pressure. I use the dot air line from parker with my b and j with no problems. It has a burst pressure rating somewhere around 1000 pounds.

 

I would like to color code my air lines....anyone know where to buy Parker 1120 colored hose in less than 250' per roll? The black is available in 100' rolls but the colors are 250' or 500' minimum....

We have had colored lines blow out of the instant fittings. Never had it happen with the black lines. You can color code at the connection points with a ring of colored heatshrink also, letting you use the black line in bulk.

We used colored line on all our fleet trucks and none blew because of color -all the same material-nylon

 

I wasn't aware that you had to run 450# of pressure to a B&J. All those years...
