Looking at running a 47 ft trailer. The first 13 ft is a separated living area and has a roof mount AC above it, trailer is a black "92" Gold rush. I will be running the A/C and may just run a curtain across behind the trailer wheel wells to cool the rest of the trailer. Mini fridge, shower with water heater, lap top, lights, Air compressor, water pump, would like the ability to run a small portable tig welder if needed. All of this stuff will probably not be running at the same time but a/c and fridge will probably be on full time.

I have a 5k startup 4k run deal but am thinking 6,500-7,500 will be needed.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Trevor Sherwood

If the AC is on and the compressor kicks on then that is a large load. I think you would be happier with. 7500. The 6500 would probably work but I would go with the bigger one.

I have a yahama 6500 eu , it sucks! My Honda was twice the generator this is. The only thing good about it is doesn’t use fuel. Like 5 gallons will last almost 2 full days of running but the circuit board is broken up funny. So the 30 amp large twist lock cannot run the whole trailer. With the air compressor hooked up inside the trailer. I have to use a cord to the 110 side of the compressor along with the twist lock to not blow breaker on generator. My old 5000 Honda didn’t have any issues at all even with a 110 ac unit to coil the clutch off.

I had a 15K in my T&E. If I were buying a generator and expected to run what you've listed I wouldn't go under 7.5K. 10K preferably. Sometimes Ebay has good prices on Onan Cumming diesel generators with an acceptable amount of hours on them taken from wrecked motorhomes.

    For example:

    7.5K, 524 hours on it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/onan-diese...780694?hash=item5d8b491396:g:5G0AAOSwx85c3rhH

    This one is a deal:

    10K, 229 hours. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Onan-10KW-...529120?hash=item23bcfca460:g:jbsAAOSwsldc4Lxj

I would recommend at least a 10K with your items, particularly the A/C and welder. Depending on what lights you have, 500 & 1000 Watt Halogen Lights on the exterior of the trailer can add up load quick too...may consider fitting high output LEDs.

For reference, I have a Onan 12K Diesel in my trailer, a 48ft Renegade.

Keeping it PG-13 for the crowd, Electricity is a lot like nice intimate female companionship, I would rather have more -- not less. And I don't like being in situations where my equipment fails to meet my needs.

Size it so that everything in the trailer can start at once, then add 25%.

We replaced the outside lights with leds
    LED Panel for RETROFIT 300W/500W FLOOD LIGHT Halogen light fixtures -- 7000Lumens 33Watts -- Cool White (6000K). P/N: SPTL792LRC
and the inside with 4' leds and run them all off a inverter with a deep cycle battery
best thing I ever did ,better light also

Awesome, thanks for the advice guys, Once the loan finishes coming through I may hop on a 10k. I am definitely interested in upgrading to leds at least on the outside of the trailer. Thanks for the links Randy, hopefully next week the loan will be wrapped up and I can jump on one.

I just changed lights on outside of trailer to LED. 6K onan would quit when the compressor kicked on with the two outside halogens on at night. I think the compressor is a 1 hp run on 220.
