Curious if anyone has any specific thoughts on the value (positive or negative) of piston oil squirters in a blown alcohol deal? Drysump application, big bore, short stroke, plenty of RPM, 10.700' deck.

I can picture certain Pros & Cons, but would be curious to hear what others think.

    Thanks..........

You planning on running a vacuum pump also? I can’t imagine you would need oil squirters on a dry sump setup with no vacuum pump. The amount of vacuum would needs to be pretty high before you start having oiling problems at the pin. The exact number escapes me at the moment. In addition the excessive side clearance us blown guys run and the 100-150 pounds of oil pressure shoots the oil out of there at a pretty good rate and distance. My guess is the bottom of your piston is pretty well covered with oil to begin with.

Anyone have any oil temperature data at the end of the run? Curious if spraying oil on the bottom would help cool piston or if it’s actually pre-heating it.

Waste of time, waste of money, waste of windage.... there you go...
What will it accomplish? Cool the piston? That is what ceramic coatings are for if desired?
More lube for the cylinder to help scuffing... correct the tuneup, switch oils, use an additive.

I remember a story about Johnny West who started a hemi with no oil pan on just see what was going on ---- it was a absolute wind storm of oil flying around ----- I can't see how a "squirter" will add anything useful -

One of my favorite books is 'The Chevrolet Racing Engine' by the late Bill Jenkins. Published back in 1976, it is fascinating to see how detailed and in depth the research into performance was back then. Here is his description of the effects of excess oil and windage control.
