Ive run 14 mm belts on my Roots for years without problem currently I believe I'm near max efficiency for the RPM I run and I am looking for a little more power anywhere I can find it. Will the thinner belts make more power with less friction? I have heard stories of 50 hp???

Gosh, I have been at this a while and I have never heard of a magic belt.
Always willing to learn something new even if it is old.

I know some of the N/TF guys like a narrow belt. That's a 6-71 60 degree at low overdrive. Dont know if the same applies to a14-71 or 18-71 HH.

I know 8mm belts don’t hold up well under peddling. Most break around 15-20 runs. I’ve seen some break around 8 runs. I’ve ran the same 14mm belt for 3 years. Still going strong.

An 8 mm belt is meant to use less power. Never seen a problem with a 8 mm on a Roots. Get an average of 25 runs from them.

Im pretty new to running blower but the Star Racer 8mm belt on my TD has 35 runs on it, 2 step launch and ripping the throttle on top end and belt looks brand new

We have used the Star Racer belt for two years 8mm. New one each year better than 50 runs a year.

I do know that tommy keeter of KPE racing did a back to back dyno test comparing a 8mm belt vs a 14 mm belt with the same OD on the same engine and blower combination just to see if there were any hp difference and he claims there was absolutely no difference between the two!
